Over the past few months my husband and Mr7 have been playing the demo of a game called World of Goo. They have been having a ball with it! So I decided to have a look at the game and watch them have a play and the game looks greats!! The game consists of 5 chapters and the demo consists of the first chapter of the game. (which is a good sized demo I reckon!) The full game costs $20US which is pretty good value depending on the state of the world economy!

The game is very heavily based on physics and from what I could see the object was to solve puzzles using balls of goo and the Laws of Physics. The level the my husband and son were playing involved making a goo bridge to cross between two cliffs. How they built the bridge, if it had the right foundations, how they anchored it to the cliff and the amount of goo used all contributed to their success in completing the puzzle. Mr7 was totally engaged in this game and I could see his bridge building skill improving as he went along, he was making much more informed choices in where to place the goo for the bridge to stay up the more he played the game.
This would be excellent for school use! Obviously in Physics classes, Design Technology or Science, but also if you were entering your students into a bridge building competition which tend to roll around once or twice a year get them on this game first to get some conceptual idea first! The demo download should be enough for a class situation but the full game would be great for a lunchtime competition or exploring some more concepts fully. I think it would be appropriate for primary up to year 10 age levels.
Well ages ago when everyone was doing Wordles for their blogs I did one for mine that I really liked but could never post it in my blog until today!! I have trouble with images for some reason….oh well one day I will work it out!! SO here is my wordle! I love that my main words are Students can!!
Wow it has been a while since i have written a blog post, I have been waiting/tossing up as to whether to become a subscriber. (Which I finally took the plunge and did! Now I have to make the most of it!) And trying really hard to think of scintillating things to write has been a problem too! Oh well. Anyway I have been tagged twice to do this 7 things meme by PamelaJ and loisath. I have really enjoyed reading other peoples meme’s and have found out some very interesting things about people. It is amazing what different lives we live and unique interests and experience that we have. It makes for an interesting tapestry of life doesn’t it!
Well here goes my 7 things…..
1. I am the youngest in my family by 16 years. I have 2 older sister and 1 older brother. I was an Auntie when I was two years old and a Great Auntie at 23! My Mum would often get mistaken for being my Grandmother, poor Mum!!
2. I spent most of my childhood years reading books about teachers. I loved Laura Ingalls Wilder the best and must’ve read the books a hundred times. I almost memorised it! When I think back about it it was so obvious I was going to be a teacher!
3. I am a Christian and go to Church regularly. I became a Christian when I was 20 after realising that the party, alcohol and boys lifestyle that I had longed for so much as a teenager was a pretty empty lifestyle to live when I finally gained some freedom at Uni. I found that fulfillment in following Jesus and have never looked back! (I still like parties, alcohol and boys (well one boy anyway, my husband
) just don’t need all of that for true peace!)
4. I absolutely love musicals and have seen lots of stage musicals and movie musicals. I especially love Les Mis and have seen it 8 times including once in the West End. Now all I have to do is see it on Broadway!
5. I was a massive Judy Garland fan as a teenager and in my early 20’s. I was even part of her fan club. I loved her movies and her beautiful singing voice she always sung with such emotion. I would hunt shops for her memorabilia. I still really like her I am just not so extreme about it!
6. I love to sing. I am average at it and really enjoy singing in the choir in Church and the occasional go at being a back up vocalist. I get very nervous when I have to sing by myself and my voice always ends up being very wonky. No problems with talking to large crowds though!!
7. If I wasn’t a teacher I think I would run a travel agent or run a B n B or run my own tour company! I absolutely love travel and love the Mornington Peninsula so would like to combine these somehow?? A winery tour perhaps with a BnB to stay at after the travellers have partaken of the gourmet delights of the region??
OK now the hard part who to tag so many people have already do it?? I tag Colin Becker, Steve Collis, Amanda Rablin, Camilla Elliot, Colin Warren, Suzy Arnott
